DECATYLEN is an over-the-counter medicine used to treat acute infections of the mouth and throat.

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist have told you.

IT IS BELIEVED THAT

sore throat is relieved by drinking water, milk with honey or tea.

However

this method of relieving symptoms is ineffective because contact with the inflamed throat area is short. Studies have shown that swallowing liquid food takes about 280 milliseconds.

IT IS BELIEVED THAT

Candies and lozenges with eucalyptus, mint and other essential oils relieve sore throat.

However

the composition of lozenges with essential oils is often unknown, nor is the amount of essential oils indicated, so the effect is unpredictable and may not be felt.

IT IS BELIEVED THAT

lozenges (candy, lollipops) relieve the symptoms of sore throat.

However

most lozenges used to relieve sore throat contain sugar. Such lozenges can have the opposite effect of treatment, as sugar promotes the multiplication of some bacteria and worsens the condition, prolongs the duration of treatment..

Although mint lozenges and lollipops can provide a short-term effect and relieve the symptoms of sore throat, only the drug treats the true causes of the pain.
